My Story
I grew up in a small town in Ohio where my parents were both educators. My family traveled extensively during the summers which fostered my imagination. Drawing was always a part of my life.
When it was time for me to go to college, I knew art would be my calling. However, my parents believed that being an artist would not be a practical career. They encouraged me to go into teaching.
I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelors in Fine Art and a Masters in Fine Arts in Education from the University of Rio Grande.
During my 35 years of teaching my own art was focused on print making and mixed media. When I moved to North Carolina in 2023 I started taking oil painting lessons. I studied at the Holt School of Fine Art and at the Andy Braitman Studio. I have been accepted to juried shows in Ohio and North Carolina. I was also chosen for a month-long residence with four other artists in downtown Davidson, NC in February. 2025
My painting style is still fluid and evolving. My still lives tend to be whimsical and primitive, a more folk art style . My landscapes are based from my travels and tend towards the abstract with a loose and layered style.
I feel extremely fortunate that in my 7th decade of life I'm finally getting to explore my childhood passion for painting. I feel happiest in my studio and I'm excited for whatever comes next!
